Chamber Names Nan Matthews as Director of Public Relations

The Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce announced today that Nan Matthews has been named Director of Public Relations. Matthews brings with her more than fourteen years experience in marketing, public relations, public affairs, event planning and graphic design.

Most recently, Matthews worked as the Main Street Manager for the City of Luling to promote, develop, and revitalize downtown. She currently serves on the Texas Downtown Association Board and was a member of the Luling Area Chamber of Commerce Board from 2001-2004.

Prior to working for the City of Luling, Matthews worked at National Instruments in the Corporate Design and Events groups for a total of eight years.

In her new role, Matthews will work with local and national media organizations to promote the Chamber’s Opportunity Austin initiative, the Chamber’s five year goal to create 72,000 new jobs in the Austin region. Matthews will also work with local media outlets on issues and stories that represent and support the Chamber’s role as Central Texas’ largest business federation. Matthews began her new position on Monday, February 27.

“We are excited to have Nan at the Chamber,” said Amanda Sablatura, Vice President of Communications. “Her strong background in media relations, obvious skill set and dedication to economic development will be an asset to both the Communications department and the Chamber. Please join me in welcoming her to her new position.”
