About ACC
The Austin Community College District (ACC) is one of the largest community college systems in the U.S., and is the primary gateway to higher education in Central Texas. Serving over 50% of all high school graduates and adults who enter higher education, ACC also provides the largest number of transfer students to area four-year colleges and universities. ACC’s transfer students perform as well or better, in terms of GPA (grade point average), than students who begin at four-year institutions and its workforce education graduates are well-regarded by the business community.

With a state-defined service area comprising all or parts of eight counties in Central Texas, ACC now has seven comprehensive campuses which offer a wide array of academic transfer, workforce education, and adult and continuing education programs. The college also has nine centers across the region, primarily at area high schools, which offer transferrable general education and some limited workforce education courses. In addition, ACC offers instruction, including customized training, at a wide variety of community and business locations throughout its service area.

ACC’s in-district tax-paying residents benefit from lower in-district tuition, as well as more comprehensive instruction and support services. “In-district” is defined by the boundaries of Austin ISD, Leander ISD, Manor ISD, Del Valle ISD, the City of Austin, and portions of Round Rock, Pflugerville and Eanes ISDs which are located within the City of Austin. All other areas of the ACC Service Area are “out of district” and subject to higher tuition as well as more limited course offerings and student services.

Business and industry leaders serve on all of ACC’s workforce education advisory committees, and many others serve on campus advisory committees to assist the college in responding to local education and training needs, as well as on the ACC Foundation.
