St. David's HealthCare Partnership

The St. David’s HealthCare Partnership (SDHP) is one of the most rapidly expanding businesses in the Austin area, and one of the leading healthcare systems in the State of Texas. SDHP is the fifth largest private employer in the metro area, with six hospitals, approximately $1.7 billion in revenue, more than 5000 employees, and a reputation for providing outstanding medical care. St. David’s hospitals have been recognized nationally for outstanding service and the highest standards of patient care.

The Partnership was formed in 1996 to meet the growing needs of an expanding community. The comprehensive network of healthcare providers includes four of the area’s leading hospitals; North Austin Medical Center, Round Rock Medical Center, South Austin Hospital and the St. David’s Medical Center. SDHP has a history of investment in the Central Texas community, with capital expansion initiatives either completed or currently underway that total over $400 million.

Jon M. Foster, FACHE, was named President and CEO of the Partnership in March of 2001, having served as Executive Vice President of the Baptist Health System in Knoxville, Tennessee prior to coming to Austin. The Partnership embraces an orientation of growth as manifest by the extensive commitment to renovation and expansion noted above.

As the one of the area’s largest employers, SDHP fills a pivotal role for area employers. This role was underscored in 2001 when SDHP was co-named the Texas Employer of the Year by the Texas Workforce Commission, a distinction that represented the first time for organizations in the healthcare industry to receive this prestigious award.
