Baker Botts L.L.P. The Austin office of Baker Botts, which opened in 1982 with only one lawyer, now has approximately 60 lawyers serving the legal needs of both Austin-based businesses and Fortune 500 companies from across the country. Originally established to address client needs during the Texas legislative session, the office has evolved into a multifaceted part of Baker Botts. The Austin office of Baker Botts is an active part of the Central Texas community and participates in civic, charitable and pro bono activities. Austin lawyers and staff serve in leadership roles in the community and on the boards of charitable organizations and nonprofit institutions throughout Austin. Some of these include Ballet Austin, AIDS Services of Austin, the Austin Symphony, Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, Supreme Court of Texas Historical Society, Austin Regional Industry Education Systems Alliance, United Way campaign, the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce's Next Century Initiative and the Political Asylum Project of Austin. In addition, Baker Botts lawyers and staff contribute hundreds of hours to local charities, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Nature Conservancy of Texas, Junior Achievement, Reading Is Fundamental and Volunteer Legal Services. In order to support the growth of the legal community, the Austin office sponsors numerous events hosted by organizations such as Austin Young Lawyers Association, Hispanic Bar Association and Supreme Court of Texas Historical Society. |
